When to book alterations

Placeholder: photo coming soon

Too early, and your measurements may change before the day. Too late, and there’s no room for a final fitting. Here is a simple timeline to plan around.

Once it arrives

Book your first fitting date, even if it’s months away. Wedding and ball seasons fill quickly, and booking early gives you the widest choice of times.

The first fitting

About 8–10 weeks before the wedding. Wear or bring your wedding shoes and the underwear you’ll wear on the day. Corina pins the gown on you, talks through the options and confirms your price. If your gown was bought online, is an heirloom or needs a big change such as a new bodice, book earlier than this.

The second fitting

A few weeks later, the main work is done. The fit is refined, and you learn how your bustle fastens. If your weight has changed a little since the first fitting, this is when it’s taken into account.

The final fitting

Close to the day, a last try-on to confirm every detail, then your gown is pressed and ready to take home. Bring whoever will help you dress and bustle the gown on the day, so they can practise.

The wedding party

Book bridesmaids, mothers and suits once their outfits have arrived. Children grow quickly, so book flower girls’ fittings closer to the day. More about wedding party alterations.

Short of time?

Get in touch as soon as you can with the date and what the gown needs. Corina will tell you honestly what’s possible.

Most gowns need two to three fittings, and every gown is priced at its first fitting. Book a fitting or call or text 021 466 626.
